An open letter in support of the volunteers and staff at the RNLI

To the staff and volunteers of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution

Everyday you and your brave volunteers do an incredible job to make sure all those in waters around the UK are safe.

From holidaymakers enjoying the sea to migrants caught in desperate terrifying situations, you carry out vital work protecting lives. And a minority of people who are abusing you should not be able to undermine your cause.

Your CEO said it best: "These islands have the reputation for doing the right thing and being decent societies, and we should be very proud of the work we’re doing to bring these people home safe.”

As people from all across the UK, we want to tell you how proud we are of you, and would like to express our support and gratitude for the heroic work you do

Signed,

Thousands of members of the public

Thank you so much for showing your support to the incredible staff and volunteers at the RNLI who have faced abuse and attacks for their work saving lives. We'll collect more messages over the weekend and send this to the RNLI on Monday.

The RNLI are a charity - so everything they do to save lives at sea is funded by donations from members of the public. Would you consider donating to help fund their incredible work?
