To Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak
Petition text
Why is this important?
British households are set to be £1,000 worse off next year. And this could just be the beginning. We’re seeing prices of everyday items going up, families being hit by higher bills, and the Government could be about to increase rail fares too. Imagine the struggle millions are going to face if they don’t see their salaries increase before winter.
Raising the minimum wage has huge support from the public, and the Government knows it. That’s why Boris Johnson talks so much about a “high wage” economy. But talk is one thing, action is another. Increasing the minimum wage would be a quick and simple way to get more money into the pockets of those who need it most.
Next week Rishi Sunak makes his budget speech and he’ll be looking to make a splash. A petition signed by hundreds of thousands of us will show him the public supports this.
