To Roseanna Cunningham, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change & Land Reform
Beavers were a native Scottish species before becoming extinct here. They have now been reintroduced but are not protected by law. Some landowners and farmers are shooting them, despite there being non-lethal ways of protecting their land. We want the Scottish Government to protect beavers from being killed.
Why is this important?
Pregnant beavers in Scotland are being shot and killed. It’s entirely legal but we can put a stop to the killing.
There’s a loophole in the law that lets landowners shoot these much-loved animals. But Environment minister, Aileen McLeod MSP, is in a position to close the loophole and protect these wild animals. A huge petition calling on Aileen to stop the slaying of innocent beavers could be enough to tip her into action.
Please can you sign the petition to close the loophole and protect beavers in Scotland?
