To Michael Gove, Minister for the Cabinet Office
Why is this important?
The government are restricting access to information that we, the public, have a right to know about. A new report by OpenDemocracy has found that there's a secretive government team who can obstruct Freedom of Information requests from journalists.
Freedom of Information requests are a critical part of our democracy - and are often used by journalists to find out what the government is doing. Obstructing them is an attack on press freedom, and our democracy. It has to stop.
