To Matt Hancock MP - Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Petition text

Don’t scrap the four hour waiting time targets for NHS A&E departments without providing a better way of measuring how well our hospitals are performing.

Why is this important?

More patients than ever are waiting more than four hours to be seen in A&E. But rather than dealing with the cause of this crisis, Health Minister Matt Hancock has suggested that he could scrap the target for A&E patients to be seen within four hours.

Top doctors are saying they are opposed to this - and so should we. The government must be accountable to the falling standards in our hospitals.

For years, people across the country have been waiting too long in crowded A&Es. And by dropping these targets, the government is trying to make it harder for us to hold them accountable for the delays which affect all of us.

Can you join thousands of 38 Degrees members by signing this petition calling on Matt Hancock to fix the crisis in our A&Es rather than hiding it?
