Extend the furlough scheme to make sure that the job sectors and groups who have been the lowest paid and most vulnerable during the coronavirus crisis aren’t left struggling.

Why is this important?

Millions of people are at risk of being left without jobs or support. That means millions of families struggling to pay bills across the country - that’s the reality of the government ending the furlough scheme on October 31st as the coronavirus crisis continues.

Already, cross-party MPs, trade unions and business leaders have called on the government to extend the furlough scheme in a targeted way. But the government needs to go further to make sure that those most affected by the crisis aren’t left without support in the middle of a recession.
