Petition text
Why is this important?
Traffic stops are one of the most used police powers. Yet the police don’t have to record any data on the reason for the stop, or the ethnicity of those they do stop. It means there’s no information about how they could be disproportionately used to target Black people - and what we can do to fix it.
This issue is in the news because of Dawn Butler MP's story of being stopped by police driving to lunch with her friend. But her experience isn't an isolated incident: Black people are disproportionately targeted by the police every day. Will you make sure we use this attention to push for change - and add your name to call for an end to racial discrimination in traffic stops?
Will you chip in?
