To Boris Johnson
Petition text
No one should be left out of pocket for self-isolating to avoid the spread of Coronavirus.
The government must introduce new emergency measures so that anyone who needs to can self-isolate - without needing to worry about losing out on pay, or losing their job entirely.
The government must introduce new emergency measures so that anyone who needs to can self-isolate - without needing to worry about losing out on pay, or losing their job entirely.
Why is this important?
For millions of people across the UK, it simply isn’t possible to follow the government’s advice on Coronavirus. That means some workers might be forced to keep working because the alternative is not being able to make rent or feed their kids. Some businesses have already recognised that workers can’t afford to take weeks off in self-isolation. That’s why Greggs have just announced they will pay their staff who need to self-isolate. But others are refusing to do the same. The only way to ensure everyone is able to follow the government’s advice on self-isolation is to introduce emergency measures to make it possible without losing out.
