To Kelly Tolhurst, Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Corporate Responsibility
Sweatshops have no place in 21st Century Britain
Dear Kelly Tolhurst,
People employed in some clothing factories in the UK are being paid as little as £3 per hour and work in buildings which are fire traps. As Andrew Brigden MP warned: “if there was a fire there then hundreds would die, and this is Britain in 2020. It’s a national shame.”
We agree, and we understand you’ve accepted a meeting with him. We look forward to hearing how you will crack down on dangerous sweatshops as soon as possible - before an unthinkable tragedy takes place.
Signed,
