To Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
- Maintaining or raising the level of environmental standards in this country
- Creating an independent environmental watchdog with real power and responsibility to hold the government and other public bodies to account
Why is this important?
The government have made some big promises to protect our environment. But the historic months ahead will force them to put their words into action. New laws for how to protect our environment are being written which could determine whether we keep the ban on bee-killing pesticides or whether we make sure companies that pollute our rivers, oceans or forests are responsible for paying for the clean-up.
We have just months left to have our say. Will you sign the petition to make our protections stronger, not weaker, after Brexit? The more of us who add our name the harder we are to ignore.
Will you chip in?
